Modern Croatian Cuisine in the Heart of Vrbnik
Nestled in the heart of Vrbnik’s old town on the island of Krk, Vareli Croatian Kitchen & Cocktail Bar brings together a unique blend of modern Croatian cuisine and cocktail culture. We use only local ingredients from the island of Krk — fresh fish and seafood, olive oil, local cheeses and herbs — to create dishes that celebrate the authentic taste of the Mediterranean. Our signature cocktails are inspired by the landscape, colours and aromas of Vrbnik, while our wine list showcases the famous local Žlahtina — a white wine that grows only on these slopes.

The Story That Became Vareli
I’m Karlo Feuš, the founder of Vareli. I traded Zagreb for the stone streets of Vrbnik, driven by a simple idea: to create a place people visit not just for the food, but for the whole experience.
Vareli started as a blend of Croatian tapas and signature cocktails, and over time it grew together with me, our team and our guests. Today it’s a Croatian Kitchen & Cocktail Bar where we combine flavours from different regions of Croatia — Kvarner fish and Krk wines, Slavonian porcini mushrooms, Zagorje štrukli and Dalmatian prosciutto. We present familiar ingredients in a contemporary way, without losing their authenticity and character.
A special place in this story belongs to the Taste of Vrbnik cocktail menu, inspired by Žlahtina, Sansigot, lavender, rosemary, local honey and the scents of the island. Each cocktail is imagined as a small piece of Vrbnik poured into a glass.
For me, Vareli was never just a restaurant. It’s a place we keep developing, with the goal that guests remember not just what they ate or drank, but the atmosphere, the people and the feeling that brings them back.

Our Signature Dishes
Croquettes
Croquettes filled with Adriatic shrimp and sun-dried tomatoes, served with smoked sweet potato cream and lime. A taste of the sea in every bite, reminiscent of summer evenings by the Adriatic.
MUSHROOM TART
A baked tart filled with mushrooms and parmesan, served with a fresh mini salad. Autumn forest flavours wrapped in crispy pastry.
SEA BREAM
Sea bream fillet in a golden Žlahtina wine sauce with Mediterranean herbs, served with Swiss chard and potatoes. A fish that swam the Adriatic this morning arrives at your table tonight.
LAMB SHANK
Slow-roasted lamb shank in a blueberry and red wine sauce, served with roasted potatoes. A traditional recipe from Vrbnik, where the meat simmers for hours until soft as butter.
